Loved one in Christ Jesus, I
believe you are growing in the wisdom of God. This is episode five of my
teachings, hearing the voice of the Holy Spirit. In episode one,
I explained that you must be born again to enable Jesus Christ to activate your
spiritual senses. When Jesus Christ opens your spiritual senses, you can clearly
hear the voice of the Holy Spirit. In episode two I explained why we cannot listen to the voice of the Holy
Spirit.
In episode three I explained how to discern the voice of the Holy
Spirit, demons, the human spirit and soul, and other external voices. In episode four I explained some channels through which the Holy
Spirit speaks unto us. I will continue with some of the ways the Holy Spirit
speaks to us in this article.
Knowing the channels, the Holy Spirit uses to speak to us will
help us understand the ways of God.
If you know the medium
through which the Holy Spirit speaks, you will not struggle in your Christian
life. Below are some ways the Holy Spirit uses as a channel to talk to us.
1. The Holy Spirit
speaks to us through the written Word (Holy Bible).
Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
Psalm 119:105 KJV
The Word of God is the
best material to verify the voice of the Holy Spirit. God has given us His Word
in a written document. The Holy Spirit inspired holy men, fishermen, kings,
priest, prophets, illiterates and literates to write the holy scriptures (See 2
Peter 1:20-21). The Holy Spirit empowered human beings to write the holy scriptures.
Anytime you read the Word (Holy Bible), envision God Almighty speaking you. The Holy Bible is not
a set of theories, the Holy Bible contains God’s wisdom. The Word contains the
mind of God. The Holy Spirit will never challenge the wisdom recorded in the
Holy Bible. Any voice (book, video, music, or material) that challenges the Word
of God is not from the Holy Spirit.
Anytime the Holy Spirit
wants to speak to you, He refers you to the scriptures. We divide the Word into
three sectors. We have the written Word. This is the Holy Bible you see in the
churches, bookstores, and market places. Technology has made it possible to
download the Holy Bible on our phones, laptops, and other electronic devices.
The second section of the
Word is the spoken Word. When we speak the Word out of power, faith, and
authority, the creative energies embedded in the Word responds and creates.
This Word brings forth life to the bearer. For example, in the book of Genesis,
when God said, Let there be light, the light appeared.
Whenever God spoke the
Word, the Word created (See Genesis chapter one in the Holy Bible). If you
speak health, it brings health. If you speak peace, it brings peace. Remember
Jesus Christ and the Centurion. The Centurion said to Jesus, speak the Word
only, and my servant will be healed. When Jesus spoke the Word, the servant of the
centurion received divine strength.
When we speak the Word with
faith as the Holy Spirit empowers us to speak, the Word creates it in the Spiritual
realm. It will materialize into the earth realm when we act in faith.
- When Jesus spoke to the storm on the sea, it obeyed.
- When Jesus spoke to the fruitless tree, it died to its root.
- When Jesus spoke to the corpse (Lazarus), he came to life.
The ultimate section of
the Holy Bible is the Eternal Word. The Eternal Word is Jesus Christ. He is the wisdom of God. Jesus Christ is the Word of God (See John
1:1-14). Everything recorded in the Holy Bible reveals the image and likeness of
Jesus Christ. The Word is the replica of the Trinity. The Heavenly Father and
the Holy Spirit agrees with the Word (Jesus Christ).
If you want to hear the
voice of the Holy Spirit, search out for the Word. The Word is a lamp unto our
feet. How can the Word be a lamp? First, what does a lamp does in our life? We
use a lamp to search for hidden things. Under the old covenant, the high priest
uses the lamp as one candlestick in the temple near the holy of holies.
This means the Word of
God opens the portal for us to access the throne room of God. If you want to
enter the throne room of God, it is the Word that you must use. Without the
Word, you may not have access to the courtroom of God. This is one reason you must
pray using the scriptures. Praying with no scripture is an empty prayer.
The devil and his minions

When I am about to pray,
I ask for divine mercies, not because I am a sinner. I may have sinned unknowingly
, or I might have done something against somebody, so I pray that God should have
mercy on me as I forgive my offenders.
The next thing I do is to
exalt the name of the Heavenly Father in the name of Jesus. I can sing, worship, and praise the Holiness of God for some minutes. After that, I sit quietly for
some minutes. During this time, the Holy Spirit reveals something to me. It can
be an open or a close vision. Other times too, the Holy Spirit directs me to
pray a specific prayer.
There are different prayers. It depends on the issue. If you want to hear the
voice of the Holy Spirit, develop a relationship with Him through prayer and
the Word. As you feed on the Word, your spirit and soul become one with the
Holy Spirit. You will reason and act as the Holy Spirit because the Holy Spirit
loves to fellowship with people who love the Word.
The Word is a light unto
our path. This world is full of injustice. Without the Word, you miss the
guidance of the Holy Spirit. Make the Word your priority (Meditate on Matthew
6:33). Value the Word above every man’s Word.
- Don’t allow the words of your parents/ guardians overrule the Word of God because the Word is the light of the Holy Spirit.
- Don’t allow the word of your wife/ husband overrule the Word of God because the Word is the light of the Holy Spirit.
- Don’t allow the word of your spiritual leader (s) overrule the Word of God because the Word is the light of the Holy Spirit.
- Don’t allow the word of your friends overrule the Word of God because the Word is the light of the Holy Spirit.
- Don’t allow the word of your boss overrule the Word of God because the Word is the light of the Holy Spirit.
- Don’t allow the word of your neighbours (family) overrule the Word of God because the Word is the light of the Holy Spirit.
- Don’t allow the word of your enemies overrule the Word of God because the Word is the light of the Holy Spirit.
- Don’t allow the word of anyone overrule the Word of God because the Word is the light of the Holy Spirit.
If you want to hear the
voice of the Holy Spirit, make the Word your closest friend because the Word is
the ultimate. Every word and prophecy will pass away but the Word (Holy Bible)
will never depart.
I know sometimes it is
difficult to study the Word of God on your own.
The devil will distract you
from important activities. Don’t give the devil a little chance in your life,
stick to the Word, and you will always hear the voice of the Holy Spirit.

2. The Holy Spirit can speak through Inspired Music.
But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of
Israel.
Psalm 22:3 KJV
Most prophets and seers under
the old covenant were worshippers. David, Elijah, Moses, and the others were worshippers. Before they prophesied, they worshipped God in the beauty of His
holiness. They worshipped God from their heart. After the worship, the Spirit
of God empowered them to prophesy.
If the prophets activated
the presence of the Holy Spirit through worship and praises, what do you think worship and praises can do for us? Remember Jehoshaphat (king of Judah) and his enemies (the
Moabites, and the ammonites).
Jahaziel, the son of
Zechariah prophesied that Jehoshaphat should make his singers lead the battle
with praises. Can you imagine God commanding the people of
Judah to lead a battle with songs of praises? The Lord fought the battle for
them because they praised God with an understanding heart.
Christians are spiritual
Israelites. If God abides in the atmosphere of praises and worship, then we must
understand that the Holy Spirit abides with us when we worship God with
understanding heart.
This is one reason we
feel the presence of the Holy Spirit when we worship God with understanding
heart. Sometimes you don’t have to open your mouth to worship God. All you have
to do is to cry
unto the Lord.
I love to worship and
praise God because it boosts my spiritual senses and makes me sensitive to the voice
of the Holy Spirit. If you want to hear the voice of the Holy Spirit, build a

3. The Holy Spirit
can speak to us through the holy angels.
And in the sixth month, the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city
of Galilee, named Nazareth,
To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of
David; and the virgin's name was Mary.
And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly
favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women.
And when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and cast
in her mind what manner of salutation this should be.
And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour
with God.
And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son,
and shalt call his name JESUS.
He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the
Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David:
And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom
there shall be no end.
Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a
man?
And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come
upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that
holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.
And, behold, thy cousin Elisabeth, she hath also conceived a son in her
old age: and this is the sixth month with her, who was called barren.
For with God nothing shall be impossible.
And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according
to thy word. And the angel departed from her.
Luke
1:26-38 KJV
Angels are the messengers
of God. We must not worship them because God created them. Any angel that
desires worship is not from God. I have

There are some messages,
the Holy Spirit will use angels to deliver them to us. For example, God used
angel Gabriel to deliver the message of Jesus birth to Mary. Angels play an
important role in our life. If you are matured in the Spirit, the Holy Spirit can
speak to you through the angels.

revelation. Most often, angels appear to us through dreams. Some angels can
also take on the image of human beings when we need quick divine intervention.

4. The Holy Spirit
can speak to us through dreams.
For God speaketh once, yea twice, yet man perceiveth it not.
In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falleth upon men,
in slumberings upon the bed;
Then he openeth the ears of men, and sealeth their instruction,
That he may withdraw man from his purpose, and hide pride from
man.
Job 33:14-17
The Holy Spirit speaks to
us when our body is at rest. God opens our spiritual eyes and ears when we are asleep.
When He opens our ears, He reveals our purpose and the plans of the enemies to
us through dreams.
Don’t joke with your
dreams because dreams are one the most familiar way to discern the voice of the

Remember, God spoke to Mary through dreams.
- God spoke to Joseph through dreams.
- God spoke to Jacob (Israel) through dreams.
- God spoke to Abimelech through dreams.
- God spoke to Cornelius through dreams.
- God spoke to Apostle Peter through dreams.
- God spoke to Abraham through dreams.
- God spoke to Isaac through dreams.
The list goes on. There
are uncountable people God spoke to through dreams. Take your dreams seriously.
Anytime you get a dream, and you don’t understand, pray, and ask the Holy Spirit
for understanding.
Don’t agree with dreams
that bring fear and destruction, break it through with the Word, and through
