How to Hear the Voice of the Holy Spirit 3

My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:

John 10:27 KJV.

We praise the name of our living God for sustaining us. I believe most of the prophecies recorded in the Holy Bible is taking place. We are in the last days. Let us be watchful and endure to the end because Jesus Christ is coming. Skeptics and other unbelievers may mock at us (Christians).

The unbelievers and some carnal Christians may doubt the coming of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. It is our responsibility as Christians to take our cross and follow Jesus. The system of the world may disadvantage some of us. Be still and know that God is in control.

There is nothing in this world God cannot control. The earth is God's footstool. God holds the earth like an egg. He watches over us. He knows our challenges and persecutions. He feels our pain. He knows the injustice done to us. God will act if we call upon Him in prayers.

Never allow the devil, carnal Christians, and the unbelievers to discourage you. Stand strong in Jesus Christ. Hold unto the promises of God. Exercise your faith. Don’t allow the reports of leaders, medical professionals, and famous personalities to destroy your faith.

The Word of God (Holy Bible) is above men’s word. Be unmovable because greater is He that lives in us than the one in this world. It is time you mature in the Lord. Feed on the Word to help grow your spirit. Fast and pray to revitalize your spirit, soul, and body.

This is episode three of my teachings. In this article, I will teach how to discern the voices that counteract the voice of the Holy Spirit. If you can discern these voices, it will help you break the ungodly ones and connect with the Holy Spirit. Below are the voices. Study them because it will help you stand strong in the faith and connect with the Holy Spirit. 

1.  The voice of the Holy Spirit

For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.

And there are three that bear witness in earth, the spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one.

1John 5:7-8 KJV

One of the best keys to identifying the voice of the Holy Spirit is to compare it with the written Word of God. The voice of the Holy Spirit always agrees with the Word of God (Holy Bible). The voice of the Holy Spirit is compatible with the Word.

The voice of the Holy Spirit will never contradict the Word. When you receive a word (through a dream, preaching’s, videos, and neighbours) and the words do not agree with God’s Word or its challenges with the Word of God, reject it by declaring the Word of God.

Another key to help you discern the voice of the Holy Spirit is that it brings peace, joy, faith, and love to your spirit, soul, and body. Any voice that brings torment and oppression is not from God. Reject it by declaring the Word of God. 

Sometimes the Holy Spirit can make us fearful or uncomfortable when we are about to do something that disagrees with the Word of God. Get my book, “How to Walk with the Holy Spirit,” for a more profound revelation. Meditate on this scripture.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,

Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

Galatians 5:22-23 KJV

2. The voice of the Devil.

And they came over unto the other side of the sea, into the country of the Gadarenes.

And when he was come out of the ship, immediately there met him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit,

Who had his dwelling among the tombs; and no man could bind him, no, not with chains:

Because that he had been often bound with fetters and chains, and the chains had been plucked asunder by him, and the fetters broken in pieces: neither could any man tame him.

And always, night and day, he was in the mountains, and in the tombs, crying, and cutting himself with stones.

But when he saw Jesus afar off, he ran and worshipped him,

And cried with a loud voice, and said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of the most high God? I adjure thee by God, that thou torment me not.

For he said unto him, Come out of the man, thou unclean spirit.

And he asked him, What is thy name? And he answered, saying, My name is Legion: for we are many.

And he besought him much that he would not send them away out of the country.

Now there was there nigh unto the mountains a great herd of swine feeding.

And all the devils besought him, saying, Send us into the swine, that we may enter into them.

Mark 5:1-12 KJV

The voice of the devil always brings fear, torment, confusion, and depression. The voice of the devil and his minions (evil spirits) challenges the authority of God’s Word. Any voice that encourages you to stay in your comfort zone and reject the plans of God, for your life, is demonic.

For example, the devil spoke through Apostle Peter when Jesus Christ was about to enter Jerusalem. Jesus Christ rebuked the voice of the devil because He knew it was not the voice of Peter.

The devil does not want you to embark on God’s plan for your life. 

When you hear voices that encourage you to postpone, and reject the plans of God for your life, know that it is the devil speaking. The devil can speak through human beings. You must discern the one speaking through them and rebuke the demonic voice. The voice of the devil always leads you to ungodly pleasure and idolatry. 

The devil can talk to your soul to forsake church meetings, and pursue after worldly things. He will offer you temporal treasures. Any activity that limits or hinders you from pursuing God’s plan for your life is the trap of the enemy. The voice of the devil will command you to idolize earthly vessels above God. 

Meditate on this scripture.

Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil.

And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungred.

And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.

But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple,

And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.

Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.

Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them;

And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me.

Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

Then the devil leaveth him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto him.

Matthew 4:1-11 KJV

3. The voice of the human spirit

The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:

Romans 8:16 KJV

The voice of the human spirit draws our minds to the Holy Spirit. It makes us aware of the spiritual world. Sometimes you feel danger, fear, and spiritual forces in your jurisdiction. It is your spirit alerting you of your spiritual status. The voice of your spirit unveils the mind of God to your soul through the Holy Spirit.  The voice of your spirit always makes you aware of spiritual things and the condition of your salvation.

4. The voice of physical enemies

Now at that feast he released unto them one prisoner, whomsoever they desired.

And there was one named Barabbas, which lay bound with them that had made insurrection with him, who had committed murder in the insurrection.

And the multitude crying aloud began to desire him to do as he had ever done unto them.

But Pilate answered them, saying, Will ye that I release unto you the King of the Jews?

For he knew that the chief priests had delivered him for envy.

But the chief priests moved the people, that he should rather release Barabbas unto them.

And Pilate answered and said again unto them, What will ye then that I shall do unto him whom ye call the King of the Jews?

And they cried out again, Crucify him.

Then Pilate said unto them, Why, what evil hath he done? And they cried out the more exceedingly, Crucify him.

Mark 15:6-14 KJV

The words of enemies are full of curses. Anytime you discern curses in your spirit, it is the voice of your physical enemies. Most often, it is your sworn enemies. Your ignorant enemies will speak words to discourage you.

They will gossip and slander your progress. The words of your enemies can stay in your heart and mind for a specified period if you don’t break them. If you allow the voice of your enemies to linger in your soul, you limit yourself from hearing the voice of the Holy Spirit. Get my series of books for a more profound revelation.

5. The voice of the human soul.

My soul hath kept thy testimonies; and I love them exceedingly.

Psalm 119:167 KJV

Our soul comprises of our conscience, intellect, will power, emotions, and desires. Most often, our soul can make us over emotional and logical. When you are too emotional, you limit the voice of the Holy Spirit.

When you are too logical, you limit the voice of the Holy Spirit. Keep the balance because sometimes you need to be emotional to hear the voice of the Holy Spirit. Other times too, the Holy Spirit can speak to you if you reason with Him.

6. The voice of the human flesh

This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.

For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.

Galatians 5:16-17 KJV

The flesh has a voice. This voice makes us pursue the things of the flesh. For example, the flesh can tell us not to fast. It will make us desire food and pleasure. The flesh always makes us conscious of the physical world. If you don’t silence the voice of the flesh through fasting and prayers, you will suppress the voice of the Holy Spirit. Meditate on these scriptures

Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,

Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,

Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

Galatians 5:19-21 KJV

7. The voice of creation.

The creation of God has a way of speaking to us. The trees, animals, sea, and other tangible things can talk to us. In the beginning, Adam and Eve could speak to the animals. Sin broke the fellowship we had with some of the animals.

This is one reason we have domestic and wild animals. God can speak to us through His creation. God can speak through the sea, earth, water, fire, animals, and the air because they have a voice.

When Cain murdered Abel, the blood of Abel spoke from the ground unto God. 

The earth opened its mouth and swallowed Abel’s blood. The earth beared witness of Abel’s blood. God opened the mouth of Balaam’s donkey when Balaam was on his way to curse the Israelites.

The earth opened its mouth and swallowed the disobedient Israelites when they rebelled against God and Moses. God commanded the elements to fight the Egyptians when they refused to allow the Israelites to enter their promised land. 

The earth reacted when Paul and Silas pray and praise God. God spoke to the fruitless tree, and it died to the root. If the tree, donkey, earth, and all the elements of God heard the voice of God and the prophets, then they have a mouth to speak. Train your spirit to listen to the creation of God because God can speak through them.
