How to Dominate Suicidal Thoughts and Pursue a Purposeful Life

Life becomes a burden when we don't know what to do. When we seek solutions to our life challenges, we sometimes become discouraged. Some people take their life by hanging themselves, drinking poisonous substances, falling into rivers, oceans, and wells. Some people kill themselves with a gun.

Statistically, many people die (suicide) before their time because of worry (depression).  According to World Health Organization, one person dies every forty seconds as a result of suicide.

Globally, over 132 people die every day through suicide which amounts to over 700 000 people dying out of suicides yearly. 

Because of this truth, I want to share with you some reasons why people commit suicide, why you must not commit suicide and provide you practical solutions to overcome suicidal thoughts to enable you to focus on God's plan for your life. Kindly share this article if you find it helpful.

 

The Top Seven Reasons You Must Not Commit Suicide

 

1. Because you did not create yourself.

The first reason you must not commit suicide is that you did not create yourself. A supernatural Creator (Jesus the Christ) fearfully and wonderfully created you with a purpose. If a Supernatural Creator has not decided to kill you, why should you destroy yourself (suicide)?

In the first place, you don't own your life. You did not choose your parents and country. God knows why he placed you in Africa, America, United Kingdom, Asia, and the continent you live in.

You have no right and authority to kill yourself because God Almighty owns you. Christ Jesus has bought you with His precious blood (See 1 Corinthians 6:20; 7:23). You can destroy your phone, and no one can sue you in law court because you own it.

If you destroy someone's property (phone, laptop, television, car, or any treasurable asset), the owner of the property can sue you in the law court because you don’t own it. That is how life works.

Anytime a suicidal thought comes into your mind, analyze that you didn’t create yourself. A supernatural Creator formed you. Meditate on the Holy Scriptures.

…the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,

Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.

Jeremiah 1:4-5 KJV

I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made…

Psalms 139:14 KJV

 

2. Because you will perish in the lake of fire if you commit suicide.

You must not commit suicide because suicide is a free and legal passport to the lake of fire. Anyone who takes his life becomes a candidate in the kingdom of darkness. Committing suicide is a sin in God's sight because the Word (Holy Scriptures) approves it.

 

And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:

Hebrews 9:27KJV

The Holy Scriptures declare that every man born of a woman has an appointment with death. Killing yourself means you died outside God’s will, and anyone that died outside God's will face His wrath.

 

3. Because you are not the only one going through challenges.

You must not commit suicide because many people are passing through the challenges you are facing. One crucial truth you must realize about life is that people can pretend to be happy, but they struggle inwardly.

Can I present to you that you are not the only one going through the storms (depression, sickness, pain, hunger, debt, sorrow, and shame)? People often hide their challenges because they fear people will betray them if they share with others.

You can research on the internet with any of these search engines (Google, ask, yahoo, Bing, and others), and you will realize that many people are passing through depression, debt, pain, and shame.

Some people’s problems are greater than yours, yet they are surviving. Never in your life think that you are the only one struggling or passing through the storms. Your problems or challenges are a percentage of someone’s storms, so don't commit suicide.

In journeyings often, in perils of waters, in perils of robbers, in perils by mine own countrymen, in perils by the heathen, in perils in the city, in perils in the wilderness, in perils in the sea, in perils among false brethren;

4. Because you are a human being with weakness.

Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities…

Romans 8:26 KJV

You must not commit suicide because your body has limitations. Christ Jesus knew we could not live without His help, so He gave us the Holy Spirit. When we get to heaven, all the challenges in life will end.

In that precious kingdom, sickness cannot touch the body. We will not go through stress, depression, rejection, pain, and fear in heaven. In this world, people will fight you irrespective of your innocence.

The kingdom of darkness will oppose you because you belong to the kingdom of light (Meditate Ephesians 6:10-18). Admit your weakness and seek help from godly and qualified psychiatrists, psychologists, therapists, counselors, ministers of the gospel, and trusted friends.

Using antidepressants to limit depression have side effects. Humble yourself and acquire knowledge because ignorance makes you vulnerable in life. You will be surprised that many people are ready to help you if you share your challenges with them.

Someone loves you for who you are and what you stand for, so don’t commit suicide. Trying to behave like someone because you need help will trap you in a pool of inferiority and suicide.

 

5. Because God cherishes you above all His creation.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

John 3:16 KJV

You must not commit suicide because God treasures you with all His heart. If the Heavenly Father could sacrifice His Son (Christ Jesus) to die for your sins, then you are treasurable to Him.

Wicked people spat on Christ Jesus because of your salvation. Christ Jesus went through rejection, pain, and persecution because of your salvation. God treasures you to the extent that He created you in His image and likeness (See Genesis 1:26).

God (the Trinity) loves you to the extent that He left His glory and took on the image of man (Christ Jesus) to save you from destruction (See 1 Timothy 3:16, John 1:1-14). God loves you; He treasures you above all His creation, so don't commit suicide. Jesus the Christ endured this shame because of you. You can read for yourself.

 

Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the LORD revealed?

For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him.

He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.

Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.

But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.

He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth.

He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare his generation? For he was cut of out of the land of the living: for the transgression of my people was he stricken.

And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth.

Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand.

He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities.

Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.

6. Because you have invisible enemies (evil spirits) and visible enemies that want to terminate the blessings in store for you.

Lord, how are they increased that trouble me! many are they that rise up against me.

Many there be which say of my soul, There is no help for him in God…

Psalms 3:1-2 KJV

You must not commit suicide because some enemies have seen your glory. These enemies want your untimely death. Committing suicide will make your enemies happy.  Like Herod, he desired Christ's death because of Christ Jesus glory.

Joseph's brothers saw the glory of Joseph, so they decided to take Joseph's life. Pharaoh eliminated some Jewish children because he discerned a deliverer (Moses). King Saul desired David's death because he sensed the potential of David.

People are fighting you in the workplace, school, and home because they have seen the glory of God in your life. Maybe you have not discovered God's blessings for your life, but your enemies have seen it. Committing suicide will validate the enemy’s expectation, so don't kill yourself.  

 

7. Because you have an eternal and glorious home packed with priceless treasures.

Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.

In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.

And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

John 14:1-3 KJV

You must not commit suicide because this world is not our permanent home (See 1 Peter 2:11, Hebrews 11:13). A time is coming we will unite with Christ Jesus, the holy angels, and saints in the celestial city.

Committing suicide will delist you from this precious kingdom because you died outside God’s will. You are going through storms on this earth because Satan and his minions are still operating (Meditate on Ephesians 6:10-18 and get my series of books for more profound revelations).

Endure the persecutions because we live among godly and ungodly people (Meditate on 2 Timothy 3:1-5,12). Killing yourself will terminate your appointment and blessings with Christ Jesus, the holy angels, and the saints in the celestial city.

The Top Seven Reasons Why People Commit Suicide

 

1. People commit suicide because of depression.

My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge…

Hosea 4:6 KJV

One of the main reasons people commit suicide is depression. A man becomes depressed when he is unable to concentrate on an assignment. Something that shouldn’t make you angry triggers you to become angry when you are in a depressed mood.

Depression is a state of confusion. It makes one unable to make a good decision. When you are depressed, you are constantly feeling tired, helpless, and unloved. A depressed person will struggle to follow the rules.

I have gone through a series of depression, so I know what I am writing to you. When you are depressed, the world looks unpleasant. Things that should make you happy will become a burden to you because you are depressed.

Most often, depression emanates from stress. When you engage in activities without sleeping, your body becomes weak. In this season, you're brain dysfunctions because you have limited and suppressed some body organs.

This is one reason people have sleep paralysis and psychotic hallucinations. If you don’t deal with depression, it can lead to suicidal thoughts. I have been in this situation. I am writing from my little experience.

If you don’t take good care of your body or rest adequately, your body can attract some diseases. For instance, I realized that I developed diabetes because I did not rest adequately from stressful works.

Anytime I ate sugary foods, my face and some organs of my body develop some black spots, so I suspected diabetes. I went to a pharmacy to check my sugar level, and the pharmacist explained that my sugar level was normal.

I prayed for divine healing, and the Holy Spirit told me that I should have enough sleep. I went to the hospital and bought an organic herbal product and started taking it. When I took the organic medicine and had enough sleep, the diabetes symptoms vanished from my body.

Today I can eat sugary food with no black spot on my face. However, I limit the intake of sugary foods because of my health. Child of God, depression can make you hopeless. If you don’t deal with depression, suicidal thoughts will dominate your mind.

 

2. Because of demonic Influence.

For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh:

(For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)

Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

2 Corinthians 10:3-5 KJV

Some people commit suicide because evil spirits speak to their minds. The Holy Scriptures declare that Satan came to steal, kill and destroy (See John 10:10, 1 Peter 5:8). If you are not watchful and prayerful, the spirit of death can project suicidal thoughts into your soul.

Some demons can also depress, oppress and suppress you when you walk and live in specific sins (wickedness, bitterness, and unforgiveness). Willful sin is one of the legal entry points of evil spirits.

Some demons can make you fearful. If you don’t deal with the spirit of fear, bitterness, anger, jealousy, hatred, and unforgiveness, demons will dominate your thoughts with suicide. The unforgiveness and bitterness in your heart can generate disease in your body, leading to suicidal thoughts.

 

3. The seed of pride.

There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.

Proverbs 14:12 KJV

People commit suicide because of pride and ego. Maybe the person incurred a huge debt or lost a business deal and court case. Instead of the person enduring the shame, he commits suicide. As I wrote that we are prone to make mistakes in life.

Swallow your pride and endure the shame because it is for a season. People will hail insults at you because of the mistake, debt, or court case. The debt, humiliation, and loss of wealth do not permit you to commit suicide. Your life is too expensive to trade with suicide!

 

4. Absence of love.

People commit suicide because of rejection. Humans are emotional beings. We desire love in some season of life because that is our nature. Even animals want love relationships; how much human beings?

One painful moment in life is when your loved ones forsake you when you need them the most. Rejection is part of life because Christ Jesus promised us in the Holy Scriptures (See John 16:33, Matthew 10:16-22).

It is not everybody that will love you. Killing yourself because some people rejected you or failed to express love towards you is a sign of immaturity.

 

5. No visionary life.

Where there is no vision, the people perish…

Proverbs 29:18 KJV

People commit suicide because they have no purpose and goals in their life. If you have no purpose in life, you succumb to any treatment people project on you. A life of no vision makes you idle, and when you are idle, the devil and enemy get the time to torment you with suicidal thoughts. Idleness makes you vulnerable to satanic manipulations (suicide).

 

6. Absence of the Holy Spirit.

People commit suicide because they are not born again. You will hardly find a man full of the Holy Spirit thinking about suicide. If the Holy Spirit is absent in your life, evil spirit (includes the spirit of death) can occupy your heart with suicidal thoughts.

 

7. Too emotional.

People commit suicide because they have no or low emotional intelligence. Women turn to be more emotional than men because most women are emotional beings while most men are logical beings.

If you are too emotional, you will not think twice when suicidal thoughts dominate your heart. A logical person will find it difficult to commit suicide as compared to an emotional person.

 

The Top Eight Remedies for Suicide (How to dominate suicidal thoughts)

 

1. Accept the love of Christ Jesus.

Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

Matthew 11:28-30 KJV

If you want to overcome suicidal thoughts, repent and confess Christ Jesus into your life. When Christ Jesus comes into your heart, He fills your heart with the Holy Spirit. With the help of the Holy Spirit, all the suicidal thoughts break.

1. Delete and format anything that will limit you from the presence of God.

2. Download a Holy Bible on all your electronic devices (King James Version recommended).

3. Buy a hard copy of a Holy Bible (King James Version recommended).

4. Find a church that believes and follows the Holy Bible as their source of final authority and as their reference of doctrine and get baptized in water and with the Holy Spirit.

5. Build a consistent prayer life on your own.

6. Fellowship with the Holy Spirit through the word of God and anointed spiritual songs (worship, praises, and hymnals).

7. Evangelize in your community.

 

2. Have a vision for your life.

Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.

Proverbs 29 :18 KJV

The next key to helping you overcome suicidal thoughts is to have a vision for your life. Suicidal thoughts cannot dominate you if you find out your purpose and pursue it.

 

3. Understand that suicide is a sin.

The following key to help you overcome suicidal thoughts is recognizing that suicide is abominable (sin) in God's sight (Meditate on Hebrews 9:27). You did not create yourself. You don’t have the right to take your life.

Wait for your season. Killing yourself will end you in the lake of fire, so don't venture. Killing yourself will validate the expectations of the enemy. Killing yourself will open the portal for the enemy to access your family, so never try it.

 

4. Understand that you are not the only one going through problems.

You are not the only one passing through the storms (rejection, pain, hunger, debt, injustice, and depression). Many people have survived what you are passing through. You will be surprised to realize that your problem is a quarter of someone's problem. You are not the only one struggling, so don't commit suicide!

 

5. Think about the consequences.

Don't allow your emotions to overrule your reasoning (logic) faculty. Have you thought about the impact on your family (children, wife, husband, friends, and others)? Think through before you bring an unforgettable shame on yourself and your lineage!

 

5. Seek deliverance from anointed vessels of God.

Most often, demons are the perpetrators of suicidal thoughts. Humble yourself and seek help from godly and anointed servants of God. Some ministries of God have mastered demonology and deliverance.

Make an appointment with a deliverance church. They will deliver you from the demons influencing you to commit suicide. If you feel shy of going to church for deliverance, embark on self-deliverance. Self-deliverance works if you are born again. Follow these steps if you need self-deliverance.

• Repent and confess any sin in your life
• Forgive anyone who has offended you from your heart.
• Plead for divine mercies through the blood of Christ Jesus.
• Lay your left hand on your head or stomach and lift your right hand to the skies.
• Bind the spirit of death, fear, and anger with your tongue (You can declare, I rebuke the spirit of death, fear, and anger in my life in Christ Jesus name! I cast these demons into the lake of fire in Jesus Christ's name!)
• Let the blood of the Lamb be a seal over me in Jesus name!
• Breath out with the consciousness that you are breathing out demons (you may sigh or cough), do it seven times.
• Breath in with the consciousness that you are breathing in the Holy Spirit, do it seven times.
• Wave your two hands to the sky and thank the LORD for the deliverance. You can worship and praise God for some minutes or hours.

5. Seek help from godly and qualified friends, counselors, psychotherapists, counselors, and professionals.

You can seek help from godly and qualified counselors, psychiatrists, and psychologists because they have been trained to handle people with suicidal thoughts. Their feedback on your problem will be of great help to you if you follow their instructions. Sometimes people who care about you (love you from their heart) can help you if you share your problems with them from your heart.

 

6. Build your mind with the Word (Holy Scriptures).

Is not my word like as a fire? saith the LORD; and like a hammer that breaketh the rock in pieces?

Jeremiah 23:29 KJV

Building your soul and spirit with God’s Word protects you from demonic (suicidal) thoughts. When you feed on the Word of God, it breaks the ungodly philosophies and builds you in God’s wisdom.

Some people believe that suicide is godly. Some religious groups believe that committing suicide will lead them to a glorious home. You need the Word of God to break these evil ideas. Thinking that suicide will make people sympathize and endorse your decision is a demonic mindset.

Meditating on the Word will set you free from these dreadful thoughts. Practicing the Word of God can rebuild your mind (Meditate on Romans 12:1-2). The Word of God is like a seed; when it enters your heart, it creates a godly mindset in you. This seed protects you from any thoughts that disagree with the wisdom of God.

 

7. Build a consistent fellowship with the Holy Spirit and consistent prayer life.

Is any among you afflicted? let him pray..

James 5:13 KJV

The Holy Spirit is a person with a personality. You can communicate with Him through spiritual songs and the Word. 8. Don't put all your trust in humans.

God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?

Numbers 23:19 KJV

Humankind can disappoint you, so don't put all your trust in them. Putting all your trust in humankind can lead to suicidal thoughts if they fail and betray you. As the Holy Scriptures declare, God is not a man who should lie or change his mind towards you.

This means a man (includes a woman) can lie to you or change his plans towards you.  Put all your faith in Christ Jesus and His Word because man has limitations. Putting all your trust in humans can activate suicidal thoughts when disappointment sets in. Meditate on these Holy Scriptures for more profound revelations.

 

Thus saith the LORD; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh esh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD.

For he shall be like the heath in the desert, and shall not see when good cometh; but shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness, in a salt land and not inhabited.
