What is Love? (Understanding True Love, Lust, Passion and Infatuations) – 5

 

Have you ever asked why most people identify love with the colour red? Observing colours, I realized that every dead leaf identifies with brown, and fruitful leaves identify with green.

In the afternoon, the sky or the cloud becomes white; other times, some part of the clouds becomes ash, red and dark depending on the season, whiles the sun remains white all the time.

God knows why He makes fruitful leaves green. Every color has a spiritual meaning. If you want some profound revelations, read my previous articles, understanding the language of the Spirit.

Some people interpret white as holiness and yellow as kingship and dignity. Others interpret red as power, anointing, and danger. This means love, another symbol of the color red, is powerful and carries some dangers.

I read in some article a woman that poured acid on her husband because of adultery. When the law court asked the woman why she poured acid on her husband, she claimed she was jealous of her husband’s love with another woman.

The woman expressed her love in jealousy, and this jealousy led to a criminal act. Child of God, the fact that you love someone does not mean you should sin. Although we have godly jealousy that emanates from love, we must apply divine wisdom when expressing love.

 

Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

John 15:13 KJV

Christ Jesus declares that love has dimensions. We have greater and smaller love. Some people don’t mind dying for their countries, business, tribe, relationships, and faith. In such cases, we may call such love great because sacrifice took place.

Like Christ Jesus, He died for our sins because of love. Joseph of Arimathea spent a valuable amount of money on Christ Jesus' corpse because of love. Note that Christ Jesus' death was supernatural (decreed prophecy).

Joseph of Arimathea spending massive money on Christ Jesus' corpse is good because Christ Jesus is the Messiah. In the sacred books, Joseph of Arimathea was ordained to spend on Christ Jesus' body.

Mary and other disciples of Christ Jesus sacrificed for Christ Jesus before and after his death because of love. I will not spend a huge sum of money on someone’s corpse because the person is not the Messiah.

Apply wisdom when spending money on a corpse because the lifeless body cannot feel your love. Express love to people when they are alive. Don’t wait for the person to die before expressing love.

Spending a huge sum of money on the corpse is not true love and wisdom. There are many people alive who need resources to advance in life. Most of the people who kill themselves in a movie because of love are not real.

They are acting. If you don’t apply wisdom, you will die foolishly by an unrealistic love. Christ Jesus's definition for greater love as laying down our lives for others does not mean committing suicide to prove our love.

True love means sacrificing our precious time, energy, and resources for the benefit of others. Do not commit suicide because you want to prove your love. Such death gives you a passport to the lake of fire. You can read my article, how to dominate suicidal thoughts for more profound revelations.

In this article, I will share some practical ways people express love and how God expects us to express love. What happens when we express love and the consequences of ignoring love. Some Practical Ways to Express love to People

 

1. Some people feel loved when you respect them.

Most often, men interpret respect as love. Apostle Paul knew why he commanded wives to respect their husbands. Most men have ego issues. They feel loved when you obey and submit to their godly instructions.

Psychologically, a man feels unloved when you disrespect him. It is part of our human nature. Because most men are logical beings, their minds work faster than their hearts. If you are a woman, wife, lady, or girl and you want a man or maybe a woman to feel love, respect him, and he will interpret it as true love.

 

2. Some people feel loved when you spend time with them.

Read the five love languages by Gary Chapman for more wisdom keys. Some people feel loved when you spend quality time with them. Being there for some people means you love them. Maybe you have not identified the love language of your partner.

Find out the love language of your partner and loved one and express that love with that individual. Some women need your attention because of their personalities. Start spending quality time with your partner, and the partner will feel loved and special.

 

3. Some people feel loved when you provide for their needs and wants.

Some people feel loved when they meet their basic needs such as food, water, and shelter. Abraham Maslow developed a theory of human needs. He described that every human has five needs in a pyramid structure.

He described that every human desire basic need such as food and water. From there, he proceeds to safety needs such as clothing and security. After the safety needs, he craves social needs such as affection, love, and relationships.

Then he moves to the ego needs of which most men fall. The person will desire success. Finally, he enters self-actualization, where he desires purpose and fulfillment. In this case, when you provide the needs (things people cannot live without) and wants (things people can live without) for others (family members and friends), they feel loved.

 

4. Some people feel loved when you encourage them with sweet and inspired words.

Words are powerful instruments that control the soul of human beings. If expressed with wisdom, passion, and understanding, it builds the seed of love in people. Some people feel loved when you speak friendly words to them.

I learned that most women love sweet words. Some people know this secret of women, so they control women with sweet words. In life, we sometimes feel loved when people express nice words to us.

On the other hand, when people speak bad words to you, you feel pain, rejection, and hatred. Most women are emotional beings. If you want to validate and affirm your love for them, speak nice words to them from your heart.

I mean inspiring words that can make them feel loved and special. Do not act like bad people that constantly speak seductive and nice words to women to lure others into illicit sexual acts. Express words with wisdom to your partner, and she will feel your love.

Do not deceive others by expressing sweet words because some people can detect your deception. Speak nice words empowered by the Holy Spirit and Holy Scriptures from your heart to others, and they will feel your love and sincerity.

 

5. Some people feel loved when you share your emotions with them.

Under the four human temperaments, we have the sanguine and choleric, who are extroverts. We have the melancholic and phlegmatic who are introverts. An extrovert is someone open to others and most often an optimist.

An introvert is someone who is not readily open to others and most often a pessimist. In some cases, some people can blend the two temperaments where their primary temperament will be choleric, and their secondary temperament will be phlegmatic. 

In this case, the person can be an introvert, but the extrovert virtue will dominate his nature. Some people, too, are extremely extroverts. Such people cannot stand a dull environment. Some people, too, are extremely introverts. 

These people cannot live in a social atmosphere for few hours or minutes. Each temperament has its advantages and disadvantages. There are several temperaments and personalities discovered by psychologists and researchers I cannot share with you. 

You can read more on psychology, human nature, temperament, and personality in your chambers. I briefly explained these four temperaments to you because some people can easily share tears and joy anywhere and at any time. 

In these cases, such people will feel loved when you share tears and joy with them when they are sharing tears and joy. Learn to adapt to the temperament and personality of others and share their pain and joy. They will feel your love when you identify with them.

 

6. Some people feel loved when you honor them from your heart.

Do you want your wife or husband to feel loved? Then honor the vessel. Every normal person desires to honour. To honor someone means you value the person. Do not become too familiar with people to the extent of dishonoring them.

Some people see your love when you honour them with understanding. When you hail praises to people (especially those with the sanguine temperament) with understanding, they feel your love. When you remember the good deeds of others and show them respect in the house, workplace, and public centers, they feel loved.

 

Some Ways to Express the Love of God or What it Means to love God

 

1. Hating evil means you love God.

Ye that love the LORD, hate evil: he preserveth the souls of his saints; he delivereth them out of the hand of the wicked.

Psalms 97:10 KJV

As the psalmist wrote, hating sin from our hearts means we love God. We must hate evil because God hates evil, and if you love God, you hate what he hates and love what loves. Prove your love by disengaging from evil practices. Prove your love by loving righteousness, holiness and purity.

 

2. Loving your brother means you love God.

And this commandment have we from him, That he who loveth God love his brother also.

1 John 4:21 KJV

As the Holy Scriptures declare, whoever claims to love God will love his brother. A brother does not necessarily mean the person should come from your family. A brother is any living creature created in the image and likeness of God.

A brother is any creature that has the life of God in Him and walks in the path of Christ Jesus. If you love God, you will see God in people and creation. I question anyone who claims to love God and hates his brother.

If you have hatred in your heart for your brother, you don’t love God because God cannot identify Himself with sin. The only thing we must hate is Satan and sin. If you have hatred for your brother, you are a murderer, and every murderer is a child of the devil (See John 8:44, 1 John 3:15-17). Prove your love for God by expressing love to the living creatures.

 

3. Obedience to God’s Word (Holy Scriptures) means you love God.

By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.

1 John 5:2 KJV

Apostle John writes that keeping the commandments of God shows we love God. If you love God, you will obey the Holy Scriptures. Claiming to be a lover of God and disrespecting the Holy Scriptures disqualify you as a kingdom lover.

In God’s kingdom, we express our love for the King of Kings and Lord of Lords (Christ Jesus) by our obedience to the Word (Holy Scriptures). Anyone who claims to love God and disregard the principles of the Holy Scriptures hates God, and such a person does not have the love of Christ Jesus in him.

 

4. God feels loved when we feed others with the Word (Holy Scriptures).

So when they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my lambs.

He saith to him again the second time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my sheep.

He saith unto him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep.

John 21:15-17 KJV

As stated by Apostle John that Christ Jesus is God Almighty (see John 1:1-14), obeying the instructions of Christ Jesus means we are following God Almighty. Christ Jesus declared to Apostle Peter that he should feed His sheep and lambs if he loves Him.

Apart from physical food, we have spiritual food, and this food gives strength to the inner man (See 1 Peter 2:2). Without the word of God, our soul and spirit becomes weak. The enemy sees weak souls and spirits as his food.

Feeding the unbelievers and baby Christian believers with the Word is a sign of true love. Anytime we feed people with the Holy Scriptures, we are expressing the love of God. When was the last time you preached the gospel to people? Christ Jesus is calling you to feed others with the Word if you love Him.

 

6. God feels loved when we intercede for others.

Another way of expressing the love of God is through intercession. Interceding for others shows how mature you are in the Lord. Lovers of God do not struggle to pray for others because they know it is a requirement of the kingdom constitution (Holy Scriptures). God is always looking for a vessel to pray for creation. If you claim to love God and fail to pray for others, your love for God is weak and incomplete.

 

7. God feels loved when we become laborers in the vineyard.

Do you know that God desires an expansion in His kingdom? Baby Christian believers do not understand the essence of becoming workers in churches because of weak spiritual muscles and weak faith in the Word (Holy Scriptures). 

It takes mature Christian believers and lovers of God to yield themselves as living sacrifices for God and the church. Talk of Apostle Paul, he did great works in the church because of his love for God. Prove your love for God by your godly works. The church needs numerous workers to expand the kingdom of heaven.

Maybe you can organize people for an assignment, sing, play the keyboard and drums, evangelize, intercede and do several things in the church. Volunteer as a worker in God’s house if you love God. God desires the salvation of men.

This is one reason He sent Christ Jesus to die for our sins (See John 3:16). God honors the soul of humankind with all His heart. If you claim to love God, sacrifice your time, energy, and resource in God’s kingdom on earth (the church).

 

Some Reasons Why We Must Express Love

1. Because love is the nature of God Almighty (Yahweh).

Love is a fruit of God (the Holy Spirit). God is the giver of love. Without Him, love cannot exist. Like a computer, without this electronic device, we cannot see the internet. The computer gives relevance to the internet. 

Since God (symbol of the computer) operates in an environment of true love (symbol of the internet), we (symbol of internet and creation) can only survive in love (symbol of computers and God). If love fails, life fails. Without the computer (symbol of God Almighty), the internet (symbol of love) is nothing.

 

2. Because love is one of the hidden cravings of humankind.

Psychologically God has crafted every human being to desire love. Observe children, vulnerable people, and the sick, and you will understand this point. It is only demons and insane people that reject true love.

Human beings and other creatures of God live in an atmosphere of love. We progress in an atmosphere of love. We survive in an atmosphere of love. We cannot do anything in this world without the seed of love because love is a driving force of human beings and other creatures of God.

 

3. Because true love creates an atmosphere of peace, unity, and growth.

Monitor any environment void of love, and you will see and feel hostility, depression, pain, and evil. Unity, peace, and growth can only prevail in a community of love. Planting a seed in infertile soil will die.

It doesn’t matter the strength of the seed; a seed will always die in infertile soil. You can plant a weak seed in fertile soil and expect the seed to germinate because the fertile soil will support the life of the weak seed.

The fertile soil is a symbol of true love. The seed is a symbol of human beings. Until we express true love in a community, the community cannot advance in the ways of God. Unity, productivity, and peace will not prevail until we express true love in workplaces, churches, and organizations.

 

4. Because true love disorganizes the works of the enemy.

The enemy can never operate successfully in a community of true love. Satan and his minions operate in an atmosphere of confusion, war, and pain. If you don’t want the enemy's works to prevail in your jurisdiction, charge the place with the fire of love. If you allow the seed of love to grow in your environment, it destabilizes the enemy's plans. Know these truths.

• True love will shield you and those connected to you from impending dangers.
• True love will eliminate the seeds of the enemy.
• True love will build the people and community in the image and likeness of God.
• True love will create an invisible force of resistance within your camp and the enemy’s camp.

 

5. Because true love is the highest form of spirituality.

And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.

1 Corinthians 13:13 KJV

True spirituality is not measured by the number of hours you can pray or engage in religious activities. True spirituality is measured by your love for God, humanity, and other creatures of God.

You can have the greatest faith in life, God and His angels see you as a weak vessel if you don’t express true love. As Paul writes, love is the greatest of all spiritual virtues. Child of God, expressing true love signifies your maturity in the spiritual realm.  Meditate on this Holy Scripture.

 

And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness.
