Wisdom Keys to Escape Poverty [How to Become Successful]

How to escape poverty

Table of Content

Introduction

I have struggled several times in life. In those seasons, several people did not want to identify with me. You must not be content with poverty because it limits you. By God’s grace, Christ Jesus has blessed me.

Depart from poverty if you want to become prominent. I define poverty as the inability to feed yourself and your family (if you are married with children). Poverty begins in your mental faculties.

Poverty is a great disaster. It comes in several ways. You can be financially, emotionally, socially, mentally, and spiritually poor. In this article, I will share with you why people become poor. Knowing the causes of poverty will help you tackle barriers holding your freedom.

I will also provide some biblical keys you can use to break poverty. In the book of Proverbs, chapter fourteen, verses twenty, Solomon, the son of David, makes us understand that your neighbors can turn against you in your poverty state.

The poor is hated even of his own neighbour: but the rich [hath] many friends.

Proverbs 14:20 KJV

When you live in poverty, people will not love associating with you. No one can deny this truth. Almost everyone loves to hang around rich people. Solomon writes that poor people face rejection and hatred.

Why you must hate poverty

You must hate poverty because people don’t love to connect with poor people. Have you ever asked why most poor people do not progress? It is because they do not have the resources to make things happen.

The rich man's wealth [is] his strong city: the destruction of the poor [is] their poverty.

Proverbs 10:15 KJV

It would help if you hated poverty because wicked people would control you in your poverty state. The truth is, anyone can trample on you when you are poor. Christ Jesus has given us the tools to become rich. You can be rich spiritually, mentally, socially, financially, and psychologically.

Money comes in several ways. Time, good health, wisdom, talents, friends, family, influence, problems, and knowledge are money. Coins and papers are a fraction of the money. You have what it takes to become successful!

My definition of success might be different from yours. However, I define a successful person as discovering and pursuing his God-given purpose, vision, and mission. Without wasting much time, let me share four reasons why people become poor. You can check out my book, Uncommon Wisdom Keys, for more profound revelations

Four vital reasons people become poor

main reasons people become poor, the causes of poverty, why people are poor in Africa

1. Laziness

[Yet] a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep:

So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth, and thy want as an armed man.

Proverbs 6:10-11 KJV

As stated in the Holy Scriptures, people who love to sleep are destined to become poor. As human beings, we must rest to restore the body’s energy. However, oversleeping can lead to poverty.

When you hate work, you are likely to become poor. Suppose you love sleeping. In that case, reduce the sleeping hours. Find something purposeful to do. When you work with your hands and mind, poverty will be far from you.

If you manage your time and mind well, poverty will not send you a friend request. There is time for everything. Do not use your working hours to play. By God’s grace, I have written several books and articles. The Holy Spirit used me to write those books and articles because I disciplined myself. If you want to become successful, love work. I will conclude this point with this Holy Scripture.

Love not sleep, lest thou come to poverty; open thine eyes, [and] thou shalt be satisfied with bread.

Proverbs 20:13 KJV

·           Do you hate poverty?

·          Do you want to become valuable?

·          Do you want to break the spirit of inferiority?

If you answered yes to these questions, work effectively and efficiently. Freely download and read my book, How to break the spirit of Inferiority, on my blog for more profound revelations.

2. Excess intake of alcohol

For the drunkard and the glutton shall come to poverty: and drowsiness shall clothe [a man] with rags.

Proverbs 23:21 KJV

Do you know that alcohol and gluttony can lead to poverty? Alcohol and overeating can lead to poverty because the Holy Scriptures say so. Let’s be honest. Have you ever seen an alcoholic living a successful life?

Every alcoholic I know is poor. If you want to escape the path of people experiencing poverty, refrain from alcohol. Alcohol can make you act insane. The substance in those beverages can make you violent.

If you love filling your stomach with food, poverty, and diseases will send you a friend request. As stated in the book of Proverbs chapter twenty-three, verses twenty-one, the drunkard and glutton will come to poverty.

Do you desire to escape the path of people experiencing poverty? Desist from alcoholic drinks. Being undisciplined in your meals will tire you, leading to excess sleep. Be disciplined. Work on yourself and allow the Holy Spirit to have his way with you.

3. Following people of no value

He that tilleth his land shall have plenty of bread: but he that followeth after vain [persons] shall have poverty enough.

Proverbs 28:19 KJV

Our mind controls almost every organ of our bodies. The person you allow into your life has an impact on your destiny. You will likely become poor if you follow vain (visionless) vessels and people of no worth.

It would be best to have people who have made it in the field you want to venture into. Following people who are going nowhere will land you nowhere. Making friends with people who don’t have a vision for their lives can make you visionless, hopeless, depressed, and poor.

Any person you allow into your life controls you because that vessel will be influencing you. The advice you receive from the person can uplift or downgrade you. This is one reason Solomon states that following vain people will lead to poverty.

If you are going to become successful, follow “successful people” (see Proverbs 28:19). I follow people of value. Because I follow successful people, I am successful. It is time to make some changes in your social and spiritual life. If you live in an environment full of visionless people, change location. Success will become your friend when you follow valuable people and live in successful environments.

4. Too much pleasure

He that loveth pleasure [shall be] a poor man: he that loveth wine and oil shall not be rich.

Prov 21:17 KJV

As social beings, we need time for ourselves. However, there is time for everything. The time for working cannot be used for games and socialization. You cannot be happy all the time. There must be some for projects you are working on.

Suppose you are always running from party to party, house to house, searching for fun. In that case, poverty will not be far from you because time is a precious and intangible asset. There is nothing wrong with having fun at the appointed time.

However, it would help if you did not overdo it. Chasing the opposite sex for pleasure can limit your strength (meditate on Proverbs 31:3). The energy supposed to do great works will be spent unprofitably.

If you want to be resourceful, manage your time, mind, and energy effectively and efficiently. You will escape poverty by following this master key. The master key to Kingdom success

He becometh poor that dealeth [with] a slack hand: but the hand of the diligent maketh rich.

Proverbs 10:4 KJV

It is time to work hard because diligence leads to wealth. Money is not evil. It is how you use the money that makes you evil. Money is not evil; it is how you make it that makes it evil (meditate on 1 Timothy 6:10). Be diligent, disciplined, and prayerful; the Holy Spirit will rain his blessings on your good works.
