Luke 5:17 And it came to pass on a certain day, as he was teaching, that there were Pharisees and doctors of the law sitting by, which were come out of every town of Galilee, and Judaea, and Jerusalem: and the power of the Lord was present to heal them.
Luke 5:18 And, behold, men brought in a bed a man which was taken with a palsy: and they sought means to bring him in, and to lay him before him.
Luke 5:19 And when they could not find by what way they might bring him in because of the multitude, they went upon the housetop, and let him down through the tiling with his couch into the midst before Jesus.
Luke 5:20 And when HE SAW THEIR FAITH, he said unto him, Man, thy sins are forgiven thee.
Jesus Christ was teaching and preaching the Word to a group of people in a confined arena. Whiles Jesus was teaching, some men brought a paralyzed man to His gathering because they believe Jesus could heal their master. Apostle Luke records that the place was too occupied, so the men used an illegal strategy to enter the meeting place of Jesus Christ.
These men used a false strategy to connect with Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ discerned the motives behind their actions. He knew that the men were honest in their heart, but their actions were wrong. Jesus Christ perceived their faith, forgave the sin, and healed the paralyzed man.
The revelation behind this story is clear and concise. God will deliver us if we approach Him by faith. It may look like we are sinful in the sight of men, but God looks at the motives behind our actions. God looks at our faith. He checks the sincerity of our heart. Men may condemn you of your actions, but God knows the intents of your heart.
The strategy of the men who brought the paralyzed man was wrong in the sight of men, but God did not condemn their actions. He saw faith in their actions. This does not mean that God condones sinful acts. God is Holy, and He hates sin. God searches our heart, He discerns deep in our heart whether we have faith in Him.
The men who brought the paralyzed men did not allow the current circumstance to block their deliverance. Most often, men may condemn your actions because they can’t discern your heart. God is the only one to judge our works. Whatever you do, do it out, faith and God will deliver you. If your heart condemns you of your actions, believe that the Holy Spirit is alerting you of your actions.
There are times we have to break specific barriers. Cultural and Jurisdictional boundaries can limit us from connecting with the power of God. We need strong faith to enable us to receive from God because the hands of God will never touch us if we don’t act in faith. The men broke through the ceiling of the house, but Jesus saw the faith in their heart. Jesus forgave because of their faith and sincerity of heart.
- Your family may condemn you, but Jesus knows the intent of your heart.
- Your boss and co-workers may condemn you, but Jesus looks at your heart.
- The community may condemn you, but Jesus knows the intent of your heart.
- Your enemies may condemn you, but Jesus knows the intent of your heart.
- Your leaders may condemn you, but Jesus knows the intent of your heart.
- The unbelievers may condemn you, but Jesus knows the intent of your heart.
- Your closest companion may condemn you, but Jesus knows the intent of your heart.
Ask yourself these questions.
- Why are some unbelievers progressing?
- Why are you not progressing but your friends are progressing?
- Why do some people quickly receive their miracle?
- Why does a new convert sprout in their spiritual life?
- Why is your neighbour prosperous but you are dry?
- Why are some unbelievers so fruitful and prosperous but you are not?
Do you want to know their secret? Their secret is faith, they act in faith. Most often, the unbelievers act in faith without knowing, and God honours their faith. In Second Kings, chapter three verses thirty-seven, A Moabite King sacrificed his son to his gods because he was losing the battle. This King sacrificed to his gods by faith, and the powers honoured his faith. The Israelites saw the faith and the sacrifice of the King and retreated. This is what faith can do. There is unlimited power in faith because God is always ready to reward your faith.
I remember I went to pray in the University football field. The prayers were so intense that I forgot to check the time. After the prayers, I checked the time. Miraculously it was around 1:00 am in the middle of the night. The only thought that came into my mind at that hour was to take a faith step. I wanted to stay on campus because I thought arm robbers will attack me if I venture on the lonely path to my apartment. A scripture (Psalm 34:7) dropped in my spirit.
I took a faith step because I believed as I am walking on the dangerous and thieves paraded road, angels were surrounding me. I reached my apartment with no harm. Glory to God!
