Proverbs 18:21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.
In this article, I will briefly explain to you curses and teach you how to break these curses to enable you to activate the blessings of God. Curses emanate in different ways and mediums. Curses can be released by a spoken word. An enemy can pronounce curses over a country, community, and individual.
The word of God states that death and life are in the power of the tongue, so you can speak blessings into your life, or you can speak blessings on someone. Another side of the scriptures reveals that you can speak violent words to someone. Whatever God created was released through Words. When God spoke, the Word created, so words carry power. We know that God created us in His image and after His likeness; therefore, our words carry power. Let me share with you some types of curses.
Self-Imposed curses
This curse is released by an individual. Anytime someone speaks a word of failure, fear, sickness, and disaster because of the circumstance, the person snares himself by his words (See Proverbs 6:2). Most often, you hear people say, This sickness will kill me one day, I’m not sure I will make it. When the person makes these statements, the enemy uses these words against the individual. You must cultivate a habit of speaking words of hope and blessings over your life.
Family curses
This type of curse is connected to the bloodline of a particular group of people. Anyone who comes from that family automatically falls under the curse. You can trace this curse in the lineage of David. All the generations before David missed the Kingship throne until the curse was broken. We can find another example of this curse in the life of Ham when his Father, Noah, cursed him and his generation.
Jurisdictional curses.
This curse controls a specific community or a group of people. It can be a country, a city, or a village. This curse results from the wicked activities of the people, which enable demonic spirits to dominate the community with curses. When a community rejects the ways of God and follows demigods, a curse is released by the agents of Satan to control the population.
Divine curses
This curse results from willful disobedience to the Word of God. Anyone who rejects and opposes the word of God receives a curse from the Lord. Cain received a curse from the Lord because he killed his brother Abel. God cursed the land because of the willful disobedience of Adam and Eve. Disobedience to parents brings curses on children because it is a divine law.
Breaking the Curse
Study the book of Deuteronomy, chapter twenty-eight, for more revelation. The key scripture I want to share with you to enable you to break every curse is to obey and walk in the light of God's Word. Let us read from the Word.
Deuteronomy 28:1 And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the LORD thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth:
The key to breaking every curse is to hearken diligently unto the voice of the LORD, observe and do all his commandments. All the commandments have been compiled by our Lord and Master Jesus Christ in the book of Matthew, chapter twenty, verses thirty-six to forty.
Matthew 22:36 Master, which is the great commandment in the law?
Matthew 22:37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
Matthew 22:38 This is the first and great commandment.
Matthew 22:39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
Matthew 22:40 ON THESE TWO COMMANDMENTS HANG ALL THE LAW AND THE PROPHETS.
So, to break all the curses and activate the blessings of God, you must love God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind and love your neighbour as yourself. The question is, how do you love God? You love God by feeding the sheep and lambs. You must evangelise, follow up on the new converts and intercede for the new converts (See John 21:15-17).
